Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings, also known as the Valley of the Gates is located in Egypt. The Valley is located on the west bank of the Nile, opposite of Thebes (modern Luxor). It contains tombs of pharaohs and nobles of the New Kingdom. The Royal families of that time were (like modern girls) fond of showing the power and wealth of the rulers through decorated tombs with scenes from Egyptian mythology. So far 63 tombs have been discovered. Today, the most famous among them is the tomb of Tutankhamen. Of course, The Valley of the Kings is one of the most famous and most visited archaeological sites in the world. Archaeologists continue with excavation, exploration and conservation.
